Adolescent Sex
Adolescent Sex was the first album from the British glam rock/new romantic group Japan, released in March 1978. To avoid controversy over the title, the album was renamed Japan in some countries. Though not a commercial success in their native UK, the album was better received in Japan where it peaked at #20, and in the Netherlands where the single "Adolescent Sex" reached number 27 in the Dutch Top 40 in 1979.[1]
The Japanese release contained several mistranslations of song titles. "Transmission" became "Invitation to Fascination", "Suburban Love" became "Carousel of Love", and "Television" became "Temptation Screen".
The album was remastered and re-released as a digipak CD on 18 April 2004, with four videos as bonus material.[2]
Critical reception
Allmusic rates the album with 4.5 out of 5 stars: "A more exciting album than just about anything else they'd ever record, Japan were young, hungry, and more than a little rough around the edges."[3]
